从20世纪80年代后期开始,台湾社会发生巨大的变化。社会思想变得多元而混乱,批判思潮席卷了整个台湾当代美术,并于90年代中期达到高峰。在批判思潮下,各种美术形态和主张纷纷出现,其中影响最大的莫过于政治反讽和社会批判,反映出台湾美术的“泛政治化”特征。90年代后期,全球化浪潮的影响更加明显,政治结构发生变化,政府和民间资本的推动力量日趋显著,当代美术的体制化特征显现出来,对于政治和社会的批判力度逐渐减弱。
Since the late 1980s, tremendous changes have taken place in Taiwan society. Social thought became pluralistic and chaotic. Critical thinking swept through the entire contemporary art scene in Taiwan and peaked in the mid-1990s. Under the critical thinking trend, various art forms and propositions appeared one after another, of which the most influential ones were political irony and social criticism, reflecting the characteristic of “pan-politicization” of Taiwan’s fine arts. In the late 1990s, the impact of the wave of globalization was more pronounced, the political structure changed, the impetus of government and private capital became more and more significant, the institutionalized features of contemporary art emerged, and the political and social criticisms gradually weakened.
