Takashi Murakami, Japan An influential artist born in the 1960s, the idol of Japanese youth. He was born in Tokyo in 1962 and received a doctorate in art from the Tokyo University of the Arts in 1993. Having accepted 11 years of traditional Japanese art education, he completely put aside those things and started his own distinctive contemporary art creation. Most of Takashi Murakami’s paintings and sculptures are inspired by traditional Japanese manga, with precious and colorful materials, from flowers to laughter to cunning mice and big breasts, from selling high-priced cartoon sculptures to the longing for Louis Vuitton (LV)
