1. Introduction
Metaphor is an essential means of thinking and a common cognitive phenomenon which is pervasive and essential in language and thought. Human beings understand the surrounding world by using this perceptual and conceptualizing tool. A great deal of research on conceptual metaphors have been done by many Chinese scholars. Shu Dingfang (1996, 1998) explored the nature and working mechanism of metaphor. Shu Dingfang (2009) expected to do research on contrasting between English and Chinese based on corpus. !_in Shuwu (1998) illustrated the conceptual metaphor of "anger". In this paper, the author tries to conduct a tentative study on contrasting conceptual metaphor of Happiness between English and Chinese. The Chinese data is mainly from Chinese Corpus.
