自明朝万历末年以来,梅兰竹菊并称,以“植物四君子”驰名天下。这四种自然钟萃的精灵承载着文人崇尚的志节和操守,契合了文人的精神需求,故历来歌咏者不绝。它们也成为画家青睐的对象,以梅兰竹菊为题的美术华章,构建起了中国花鸟画的半壁江山。歌咏梅兰竹菊的优秀篇章也吸引着历代书法家凝聚才思于笔端,文词思想感情与书家特有的书写个性完美结合在一起,使文词之美与书法之美相融一体。
