In 2014, Jiangxi Province promulgated a policy to implement free treatment for patients with severe mental illness who live in permanent residence in Jiangxi Province and participate in the basic medical insurance for urban residents and the NRCMS. The implementation of this policy for more than one year has benefited many patients and exposed some deep-seated problems in the prevention and treatment of severe mental diseases that need to be resolved urgently. First, there is a lack of a strong coordination mechanism for the prevention and treatment of mental diseases.
