金宏宇先生的现代文学研究独具特色。他在本世纪头十年间出版的《中国现代长篇小说名著版本校评》等著作被认为对现代文学名著的版本批评有“筚路蓝缕之功”1,此后他又致力于现代文学的副文本研究,最近出版的《文本周边——中国现代文学副文本研究》再次显示了其扎实的学术功底和敏锐的学术眼光,引导我们换一种眼光来阐释现代文学文本,同时也将副文本研究与其先前的版本研究整合为一体,共同论证一种他所说的中国现代文学的“文本四维论”2。
