西南交通大学于1986年6月8～10日,召开了铁路重载运输学术报告会,会议共宣读和交流了论文25篇,反映了该校重载技术研究中心成立一年多来的初步研究成果。孙竹生教授等《在我国铁路上发展重载运输的问题》报告中从宏观上探讨了我国重载运输发展的目标和步骤,对提高列车重量与提高行车密度的关系,提高列车重量的幅度,我国发展重载运输的主要型式等问题进行了分析并提出了积极建议。报告中还指出必须将重载运输纳入系统工程的轨道进行研究,并就重载运输系统所涉及的软硬件十三个方面的课题发表了看
