故宫博物院所藏皇皇巨帙《崇庆皇太后万寿庆典图》,是皇太后庆寿活动的写实画卷。此图从京西万寿山之东宫门起,沿万寿山、昆明湖入长河,又经西直门、西安门、西华门,直绘至皇太后在紫禁城中的庆寿之地寿安宫。《万寿图》中,从第二卷沿长河两岸始,至第三卷内城及第四卷皇城内,街道两侧不同地段,绘有大大小小各形、各种、各类插花盆景,多达五十多处。摆放盆景与插花表达朝中大臣恭祝万寿心情,是当时常见的做法。
