《历史与社会》是我市率先进入实验阶段的新课程，也是一门有着全新理念且在实验中取得初步成功的综合课程，被誉为新课程改革的亮点。《历史与社会》取代了原来初中历史、地理两门课程，突出人文性、综合性、实践性，有着全新的理念和形式，并增加了许多新内容。《历史与社会》课程不是历史与地理课程的简单拼合，而是一门整合了历史、人文地理、政治、经济、文化等知识内容的新课程，旨在对学生进行公民教育与人文素质教育。新课程的目标是培养创新精神、社会实践能力和社会责任感，促进学生的社会性发展，为学生形成正确的世界观、人生观和价值观，成为社会主义现代化国家的合格公民奠定基础。这是一次前所未有的尝试，课程的实验具有一定的时代意义。
“History and Society” is a new course that our city took the lead in entering the experimental phase and also a comprehensive course with new ideas and initial success in the experiment. It is praised as the highlight of the new curriculum reform. “History and Society” replaced the original two courses of history and geography in junior high school, highlighted the humanistic features, comprehensiveness and practicality, had entirely new concepts and forms, and added many new contents. The course “History and Society” is not a simple combination of history and geography courses, but a new course that integrates knowledge of history, human geography, politics, economics and culture with a view to educating students on civic education and humanistic quality. The goal of the new curriculum is to foster the spirit of innovation, social practice and social responsibility, promote the social development of students, and lay the foundation for students to form a correct world outlook, outlook on life and values and become qualified citizens in a socialist modern country. This is an unprecedented attempt, the experiment of the course has the certain age meaning.
