Stratified Bordeaux Residence is located on a wooded hilltop in the southeastern part of Bordeaux (Figure 3). This home is designed by Koolhaas as an elderly couple who can only rely on wheelchairs for a car accident. Bordeaux residential building system is like a medieval castle, the level of stratification is an important feature (Figure 4). It has an entrance courtyard like the outer courtyard of the castle, some of which provide rooms for lodgers and housekeepers. The three-story building on the southwestern side of the yard is a place where the owner lives on a weekday basis.
