According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, the Soviet Union has completed the development of a laser anti-satellite orbit and achieved the level of space launch and is estimated to launch for the first time by the end of this year. The United States estimates that the Soviet Union has six practical anti-satellite laser systems and will gradually deploy it in orbit within the next seven years.
