In a January 15, 2014 issue of the Journal of Transgene Translational Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital researchers described a new method for characterization of deep proteins using small cell samples: an antibody barcode with photolytic DNA (ABCD) platform, for the first time involving the collection of cells through a microfluidic device that binds the antibody to isolate the cells of interest (cancer). Before confirming the ABCD platform as a cancer cell profiling tool, the platform can even accurately pinpoint protein expression in individual cells
