塞林格《麦田里的守望者》深受苏格兰十八世纪“农民诗人”罗伯特·彭斯的影响,不仅这部小说的题目来自彭斯的诗歌,而且这部小说的主题也与彭斯的诗作深度契合。进一步研究发现,塞林格与彭斯在以下几个方面极为相似:首先,他们作品中的(抒情)主人公都是放荡不羁者,与主流社会格格不入;其次,他们都痛斥社会(道德、宗教)的虚伪;最后,他们都具有自然、纯真、善良的人性,以此对抗社会的虚伪,使人类获得精神的救赎。
Salinger “Catcher in the Rye” was deeply influenced by Scottish eighteenth century “peasant poets” Robert Burns, not only the title of this novel comes from Burns’s poetry, but also the theme of this novel with Peng Sri Lanka’s poetry depth fit. Further study found that Salinger and Burns are very similar in the following aspects: firstly, the (lyric) protagonists in their works are all libertarian and incompatible with the mainstream society; secondly, they both denounce social (morality and religion) Hypocritical; Finally, they all have natural, pure, kind humanity, in order to confront the social hypocrisy, make mankind obtain spiritual redemption.
