In order to avoid mechanical equivalent but unacceptable sentences in translation, American translation theorist Eugene Nida discussed seven core sentences in his book, Translation Theory and Practice, which is summarized in three basic categories Sentence pattern: 1. subject + predicate; 2. subject + predicate + object; 3. subject + system verb + form. The process of using the core sentence for translation can be summarized as follows: 1) analyzing the core sentence of the original sentence; 2) translating the core sentence; and 3) reorganizing the translated core sentence. Finally, this article demonstrates the applicability of the core sentence in the Chinese-English sentence translation.
