新兴木刻诞生于20世纪30年代的上海, 此时正值抗日救亡运动蓬勃兴起,新兴木刻随之分别在国统区和解放区得到快速发展。新兴木刻运动可以划分为抗战前时期、抗日战争时期和解放战争时期。相对解放区而言,国统区直接以抗战为题材的木刻在数量和时间的跨度上都占有更大的比例,它不仅包括抗战八年时期的木刻,还有“抗战前时期”大量表现抗日题材的木刻。艰难的生存状态、多变的战局形势、复杂的心理变化及多区域、多流变的艺术群体,使国统区抗战木刻的精神内质和表达形式要比解放区木刻更复杂、更丰富。
Emerging woodcut was born in Shanghai in the 1930s, at a time when the Anti-Japanese National Salvation Movement was booming and emerging woodcuts were rapidly developed in both the KMT and the Liberated Areas. Emerging woodcut movements can be divided into the pre-war period, the War of Resistance Against Japan and the War of Liberation. Compared with the liberated areas, the KMT-directed woodcut with the theme of the war of resistance occupies a greater proportion of the span of time and quantity. It includes not only woodcuts during the eight years of the Anti-Japanese War but also woodcuts with a large amount of anti-Japanese performance during the period of “Anti-Japanese War” . Difficult state of existence, changing war situation, complex psychological changes and multi-regional, multi-rheological art groups, so that the KMT’s anti-Japanese wood carving spirit of the inner quality and expression than the Liberated Area woodcut more complex and more abundant.
