1987年11月13日上午。红安县烈士陵园内,人头攒动,彩旗飘扬。由中共湖北省委主持召开的隆重纪念黄麻起义胜利60周年大会即将在这里举行。人群中,有一位个子不高、衣着朴素的老人,健步朝主席台走来。红安县委副书记耿协楠迎上前去,热情地拉着她的手,来到省委领导跟前,向他们介绍说:“这位是黄麻起义主要领导人之一戴克敏烈士的胞妹戴觉敏同志。土地革命战争时期,她家有14人参加革命,先后牺牲了11人,还有2人后来病故了,她是唯一的幸存者,这次特地从北京赶回参加纪念活动。”省委领导同她亲切握手,向她鞠躬致敬,钦佩地说:“革命家庭,革命功臣！”“红安革命家庭很多,”戴觉敏谦逊地说,“我们家只是其中的一户,还有许多家庭倒灶绝户了。我们红安为革命牺牲的人多啊！”
