[Objective] To analyze chemical components of volatile oil from Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus in Guangdong by the gas chromatography mass spectrometry( GC-MS). [Methods] Volatile oils were extracted from Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus by steam distillation method;chemical components of volatile oils from Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus were determined by GC-MS; relative percentage content of chemical components was determined by normalization method. [Results] 45 kinds of chemical components were identified. Major components included Nootkatone( 20. 500%),Alloaromadendrene( 6. 133%),7-Isopropenyl-1,4a-dimethyl-4,4a,5,6,7,8-hexahydro-3H-naphthalen-2-one( 3. 044%),Naphthalene,1,2,3,5,6,7,8,8a-octahydro-1,8a-dimethyl-7-( 1-methylethenyl)-,[1S-( 1. alpha.,7. alpha.,8a. alpha.) ]-( 2. 816%),2( 1H) Naphthalenone,3,5,6,7,8,8a-hexahydro-4,8a-( 2. 309%),and Caryophyllene oxide( 1. 372%),etc. [Conclusion] This method is high efficient and rapid in separation of chemical components, and thus can be applied in quality control of Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus.
