刘勰的文学观带有很强的人本主义色彩。在《原道》篇中,他以“参”作为人与天地万物即道沟通的主要方式来阐述文章起源的问题,一方面将“参”的对象——道进行还原,取消了其中的比德成分,归还其自然本质;另一方面又十分重视人的“性灵”的发挥,以其作为“参”的依据。
Liu Xie’s concept of literature has a strong humanistic color.
