China’s State Economic Restructuring Commission and the United Nations Economic and Social Development Department jointly held the International Symposium on the Transformation of Economic Mechanism in Beijing from April 21 to April 24, 1992. It is significant for officials, experts and scholars from the United Nations and 17 countries to come together to discuss in depth the issue of the transformation of economic mechanisms. As UN Deputy Secretary-General Ji Chaozhu pointed out at the opening ceremony, the current link between the micro-economic reform in the transitional economy and macroeconomic adjustment is a significant lesson for the United Nations and all countries in the world
