本文基于语言策略教学法(Strategy-based Instruction)的观点,旨在探讨使用篇章断句的方式作为中文阅读策略之教学,笔者自1997年起开始进行一系列的阅读策略研究计划(信世昌,1998),经由学理探讨及教学实验来验证一些阅读策略教学之效果及可行性。其中所发展的“分词断句”教学法,包括了“分词策略”与“断句策略”的教学。所谓“分词策略”是在句子之中分断出词汇的策略教学,已有多位华语教师将之应用于实际的教学上并加以验证(信世昌,2000,2001);而“断句策略”则是在段落或篇章中进行断句的策略教学,本文则基于实证的结果来探讨此断句策略的教学。所谓断句教学的实施的方式是先将整段或整篇文章的标点符号删除,让外籍学生阅读没有标点符号的文章,试图判读其文意,并且持笔将应断句之处划出标点符号,借以训练其阅读能力。本文将探讨断句训练的原理与实施程序,并举出实例。
