In 1946, rumors about the forced pilgrimages of American pilots as slaves in the Ch’ang-k’ang district during the war against Japan stunned the two countries. In order to rescue the missing U.S. military pilots, the National Government and the United States organized search and rescue personnel of the two countries to enter the field investigation and search of the Yi area. As the search and rescue operations involve various existing contradictions in the local community in the border areas, they also trigger power struggle and political disputes among local political forces. Although this rumor eventually became falsified, the crash of the Sichuan-Hongyi-Yi region since the war of resistance against Japan took place more in touch with the outside world. The image and status of the Yi people are also under “centralization” and “internationalization” And local conflicts and other factors under the influence of shaping.
