本世纪初以来,随着2000大气压以上超高压技术的发展,加之流体密封和容器强度的提高,美国GE公司于1955年最初成功合成金刚石。后来根据利用形态的需要,将细小的人造金刚石颗粒合成为金刚石烧结体,制成各种形状的工具和元件。 金刚石的高压合成工艺有熔剂法和直接变换法两种。熔剂法中的熔剂,在高温下形成溶解碳的溶液。石墨熔解于此种溶液之中,当碳由形成过饱和的溶液中进行结晶时,如果金刚石稳定,则成为金刚石结晶。
