Growth is the eternal theme of young literary works. The outstanding young novel “Cave” by American writer Louis Sachir, who won the Gold Award for Children’s Literature of Newberry in 1999, shows the arduous growth course of the heroine Stanley, who has entered a mature stage of adventurism and suffering. Discusses the protagonist’s social growth, analyzes how he integrates into the society, establishes the social identity and obtains the moral sublimation in the process, and then interprets the growth theme contained in the novel.
