在中国学术界,印度华侨华人研究几近空白。在沈丹森博士(Tansen Sen)的建议和帮助之下,本刊特别组织编辑了本期“印度华侨华人专题”。沈丹森博士出生于加尔各答,15岁随父亲来到中国,先后在北京语言学院和北京大学获得学士学位和硕士学位,后又在美国宾夕法尼亚大学获得博士学位。现任美国纽约城市大学历史系副教授。沈丹森博士致力于亚洲历史及宗教,特别是佛教和中印关系的研究,著有《佛教、外交与贸易:600-1400年中印关系的重整》(Buddhism,Diplomacy and Trade:The Realignment of Sino-Indian Relations,600-1400)等专著及多篇论文。沈丹森博士十分关注印度华人的情况,致力于研究和保存印度华人的历史和文化。他在加尔各答组织了两次有关印度华人的学术会议。目前,他正在创办一个有关印度华人的网站。本专题另一位特邀编辑张幸是北京大学东语系及德国马丁·路德大学南亚系的博士研究生,她是国内少数研究印度华人的学者之一,目前,正在德国进行加尔各答华人文化认同问题的研究。她在加尔各答进行了大量的田野调查,并且在国际会议上提交有关论文。本期“印度华侨华人专题”的出版,要特别感谢沈丹森和张幸。本专题中的大多数文章是由沈丹森约稿或推荐的,他还和张幸一起对译文进行了校对和修改;张幸对本专题中的译文,特别是一些人名、地名及专有名词的翻译,进行了核实和把关。希望本专题的出版,有助于学界加深对印度华侨华人历史与现状的了解,进而推进对印度华侨华人问题的深入研究。
In Chinese academia, the study of overseas Chinese in India is almost empty. With the help and advice of Dr. Tansen Sen, this issue specially organized and edited this issue of “Overseas Chinese in India”. Dr. Shen Shensen was born in Kolkata and came to China with his father at 15 years old. He obtained a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Beijing Language and Peking University and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently Associate Professor of History at City University of New York. Dr. Shen Shensen is devoted to the study of Asian history and religions, especially Buddhism and Sino-Indian relations. He is the author of “Buddhist, Diplomacy and Trade: Reconstruction of Sino-Indian Relations 600-1400 Years” (Buddhism, Diplomacy and Trade: The Realignment of Sino -Indian Relations, 600-1400) and other monographs and papers. Dr. Shen Shensen is very concerned about the situation of Chinese in India and devoted himself to studying and preserving the history and culture of Indian Chinese. He organized two academic conferences on Chinese in India in Calcutta. Currently, he is setting up a website about Indian Chinese. Zhang Xing, another invited editor on this topic, is a Ph.D. candidate in the Eastern Language Department of Peking University and South Asia Department of Martin Luther University in Germany. She is one of the few scholars studying Indian Chinese in China. Currently, Kolkata’s Chinese cultural identity is being carried out in Germany. Research. She conducted extensive fieldwork in Calcutta and submitted papers at international conferences. This issue “Indian Overseas Chinese feature ” publication, special thanks to Shen Danshan and Zhang Xing. Most of the articles in this topic were written or recommended by Shen Danson and he also proofread and amend the translation together with Zhang Xing. Zhang Xing translated the translations in this topic, especially those names, names and proper nouns , Carried out verification and checks. It is hoped that the publication of this special issue will help academics deepen their understanding of the history and current status of overseas Chinese in India and further promote the in-depth study of the overseas Chinese in India.
