Jealott’s Hill, Berkshire, UK, is the main research center of the pesticide division of ICI. It has made significant contributions to the modern pesticide industry. The research activities here have been going on for 60 years and have produced extreme effects on agriculture around the world. The profound influence will also play an important role in the world’s grain production. In the early days of entrepreneurship, the British company Nitram bought Gillette Hill and neighboring farm real estate as a research base. Two years later, ICI acquired Nitram. And appointed Professor Frederick Kepler of Oxford University as the first person in charge of this new research base. Initially, only a few staff members were engaged in some assessments on how to increase crop yields and profits.
