荧光灯是一种由汞与惰性气体组成的低压气体放电灯。在放电过程中,大部分电能都消耗在正柱区中,而且大部分辐射也都是从正柱区中产生出来的。在电极附近的放电区中所消耗的电能,对于荧光灯的有用辐射光谱却并无什么贡献,因此是一种损耗,应予以降低。在正电柱区中有带电粒子(电子和离子)与中性粒子。然而在低气压放电等离子区中,由于各种粒子的浓度相当低,它们之间的碰撞不可能建立起热运动的平衡关系。换言之,所有的粒子,它们的温度都是各不相同的。
Fluorescent light is a kind of low pressure gas discharge lamp composed of mercury and inert gas. During the discharge, most of the energy is consumed in the positive column region, and most of the radiation is also generated from the positive column region. The electrical energy consumed in the discharge zone near the electrode does not contribute to the useful radiation spectrum of the fluorescent lamp and is therefore a loss that should be reduced. In the positive column area there are charged particles (electrons and ions) and neutral particles. However, in the low pressure discharge plasma region, the collisions between them can not establish the balance of thermal motion due to the relatively low concentration of various particles. In other words, all the particles, their temperatures are different.
