袁世臻在担任邢台钢铁有限责任公司董事长兼总经理任上,忠实履行一个企业管理者“兴企报国”的神圣职责,辛勤躬耕,奋力进取,带领邢钢一班人,历经七载,使企业利润由1996年的507万元提高到2002年的2.73亿元,增长54倍,连续6年实现公司经济效益翻番增长,11项经济技术指标稳居同行业前5名,成为全国五百家工业企业和全国重点冶金企业。袁世臻个人也先后荣获全国五一劳动奖章、河北省优秀企业家等荣誉称号,当选第十届全国人大代表。
