十月革命以前的沙皇俄国,几乎没有自己的磷矿工业,生产磷肥和其它工业所需的磷矿石原料,都是从非洲进口,当时连一个探明的磷矿床也没有。 苏维埃政权建立以后的六十多年来,它的磷矿工业发生了根本的变化。到目前为止,所探明的磷矿储量仅次于摩洛哥和美国,居世界第三位;磷矿石产量仅次于美国,居世界第二位;而且一跃变为磷矿出口国,其出口量也仅次于美国和摩洛哥,居世界第三位;国内消费量仅次于美国,居世界第二位。
Before the October Revolution, Tsarist Russia had virtually no own phosphate rock industry.
