诚信在现代话语系统中是一种个人德行或社会道德,但在朱熹的理学体系中则是两个不同的伦理范畴。朱熹通过诚与信的分疏,把诚纳入到天理论的哲学体系中,以诚为道德的形上本体,以信为诚体之用,作为人伦日用的理性法则。以体用的统合,把诚信之德的合理性确立在天道与人道的基础上,完成了天与人的合一和自然之理与人文之理的贯通,实现了本体世界与意义世界的联结,使人的生活世界在伦理的参与和干预下成为有意义的文化的世界,人由此获得了对自身有限性和世俗生活世界的超越。
