蒸汽机车鞲鞴杆是实现机车前进、或后退的重要部件。它的前端和后端为1/15和1/16锥度的圆锥体,分别与前端的鞲鞴体和后端的十字头刚性连接。其结合要求是:锥体接触面应大于80%;鞲鞴杆与鞲鞴体用50~80吨压力组装,并用螺母紧固;鞲鞴杆与十字头的连接应用斜度为1/25的扁销锁紧。鞲鞴杆承受着拉压交变载荷和弯曲力,蒸汽机车功率大、速度快,增大了鞲鞴杆的受力和载荷交变的频率,使受力情况更为复杂。
