At present, one of the weak links in the railway transport work is the maintenance department, especially the area where diesel locomotives are towed. This is to a large extent related to insufficient locomotive power and reduced locomotive reliability. The reduction in the reliability of the use of locomotives is due partly to the obsolescence of the locomotives owned and, on the other hand, to the backward development of the repair bases, the lack of many spare parts and materials and the lack of support for the locomotive depot repair cadres.
