In the modern history of China and East Asia, Confucianism and Western culture have been exchanges, mutual complementarity and integration innovation. Ricci and some other missionaries once believed that Confucianism is connected with the teachings of Jesus. After Confucianism reached Europe, it had an important influence on some well-known thinkers such as Voltaire, the enlightening scholar. The Confucian motto, “Do not want to be loved, do not impose on others,” was written into the human rights declaration of the French Revolution. Confucianism is also affected by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights promulgated by the United Nations today. Some Nobel Prize winners believe that the 21st century will be an era that Chinese Confucianism places on more emphasis.
