经学史的分期、分派问题伴随着经学史的发展与之俱进,从汉代始立经学起至今古文之争,再到清朝繁荣时期,起承转合。《四库全书总目提要》对经学的论述和皮锡瑞、周予同及海外学者对经学史分期分派的讨论各有千秋。魏晋的王学与郑学之别,宋明的程朱学与陆王学之分,都带有经学分派的意义。分期分派应从历史角度、客观角度,科学把握经学的开端问题、经学历史的逻辑规律,较全面的去研究经学史问题。
