计算机在企业管理和办公室自动化方面的应用中需要不断地把多类数据输入到计算机中。目前采用的方法往往是先人工从各现场汇集数据,再由专人从键盘键入。这种数据输入方式实时性差,往往不能及时反映现场的真实情况,同时也不能实时地把指令性信息反馈回现场。如果采用通用微机网络例如Omninet或Ethernet来实现各现场向主机的数据输入则在每个需要输入数据的地方都要安置一台微型计算机,费用昂贵,是不现实的。若采用常规的终端点对点通讯方案,则主机上要配置大量的终端接口,还要缚设许多终端通讯线,也不易实
