In the streets and alleys, the endless stream of cars emits black smoke from a stockist, causing terrible pollution and harm to the crowded towns. The fundamental measure to change the status quo is to promote electric cars. Today, the global car giants are striving to achieve this dream. One day, this dream will become a reality and will revolutionize the 500 billion U.S. dollar automotive industry worldwide. The key technology to overcome the difficulties of electric vehicles is power batteries. Traditional lead-acid and nickel/cadmium rechargeable batteries have low energy densities and the power performance is difficult to meet the demand of electric vehicles. The emerging nickel-metal hydride rechargeable batteries (nickel/hydrogen batteries for short) have the basic requirements for the power and mileage of electric vehicles. In March 1994, a “Geo Metzo” electric vehicle powered by a Nickel/Hydrogen battery, jointly launched by the American company Oakon Nickel Battery and General Motors, won 125 miles per hour at an uninterrupted speed of 65 miles per hour. The championship of the electric car race has taken a new step toward the practical application of electric vehicles. To
