Dan’s mom: Katie? Are you OK?
Katie: Yeah. Sorry. I just ... I had a moment.
  Dan’s mom: A moment?
Katie:  The, um ... man who came to the house, who shot Dan ... his name is Aeden Bennett, and sometimes ... I have trouble getting him out of my mind.
Dan’s mom: Well, that must be frightening.
Katie: I’ll be fine. I just need a minute.
Dan’s mom: You need more than a minute. It takes time to get over something like that. And Dan isn’t much help, is he?
  Katie: Dan’s been wonderful.
Dan’s mom: Oh, no, I know. He wants to help, and he says the right things, but ... truth is, he’s not here, is he? Just when you need him, he’s gone. And it’s never his fault. It’s always work, or it’s ... some damn thing that’s pulling him away.
  Katie: Yes.
Dan’s mom: You worry ... that he’s going to leave some day and not come back, don’t you?
  Katie: I do.
Dan’s mom: Now, you listen to me, Katie. You don’t need him. You don’t. He’s my son, and I love him, but you’re strong. You are a strong woman, and you don’t need anybody except yourself. Now, come on. Come on downstairs. The music is so beautiful.

Synopsis: The privileged prep school teens on Manhattan’s Upper East Side first learn that Serena is back in town, the way they learn all the important news in their lives—from the blog of the all-knowing Gossip Girl. No one knows Gossip Girl’s identity, but everyone in this exclusive and complicated vicious circle relies on her website and text messages for the latest scoop.

Blair: Whenever something’s bothering you, I can always find you here.
Serena: You’re here for another 1)catfight? What’s that?
Blair: A letter. I wrote it to you when you were away at boarding school. I never sent it.
“Dear Serena, my world is 2)falling apart, and you’re the only one who would understand. My father left my mother for a 31-year-old model ... a male model. I feel like screaming because I don’t have any one to talk to. You’re gone ... my dad’s gone. Nate’s acting weird. Where are you? Why don’t you call? Why did you leave without saying good-bye? You’re supposed to be my best friend. I miss you so much. Love, Blair.”
  Serena: Why didn’t you send it? I would’ve …
Blair: You would’ve what? You knew, Serena, and you didn’t even call.
Serena: I didn’t know what to say to you or even how to be your friend after what I did. I’m so sorry.

  Beth: What’s wrong with her?
  Josef: Uh, she’s been in a 3)coma ... since 1955.
Beth: Oh, my god. She hasn’t aged.
Josef: You know, I met her at 4)grand central station, we were both waiting for a train, and she asked me for a light, and the moment I looked into her eyes, I knew that she was somethin’ special. I knew better than to get involved with a human. I knew it was a mistake, but I did it anyway. And for months, I thought I was keeping my secret from her, but then I discovered that she knew. She knew ... and she didn’t care. That was the happiest day of my life.
Beth: So you were in love with her.
Josef: I wasn’t looking for it, believe me. The longer we were together, the more I began to think the whole reason that I became a vampire was ...you know, so I could live long enough to meet her. You know, it took me over 350 years to find her. And only a year to lose her ... forever …
Beth: So what happened to her?
Mick: He tried to turn her.
Josef: Yeah. And she’d been begging me to do it for months. I didn’t want to, but she wouldn’t let it go. You know, she knew that was the only way we could be together.
Mick: Josef ... this ... all this ... it’s not your fault.
Josef: I know, but it … it is. I’m the one who did this to her.
Beth: You’ve been looking after her ever since.
Josef: I couldn’t let her go. You know, maybe someday medicine or ... a miracle, something will bring her back.

Surrealis
