日本工业技术院名古屋工业技术试验所与日本化学陶业公司,共同研制了氧化锆刀具的烧结技术。这种刀具充分利用了氧化锆的特性,是一种组织致密,强度很高,韧性良好的刀具(两单位正在共同申请专利).在陶瓷刀具方面,氧化铝、烧结金刚石、立方氮化硼等都已付诸实际使用,而氧化锆刀具则仅仅初露头角.新研制的氧化锆刀具,压制成型和烧结都采用普通的方法,因此制造成本低廉,切削性能可与烧结金刚石比美,可望用于铝合金等难加工材料的切削.切削刀具要求在1000℃的高温条件下,仍能保持其硬度、强度和耐磨性.氧化锆的特点是:耐高温,韧性好,与金属的亲和性不强,很适合
