当代学者罗继祖教授对吴自然的书法评论说:“其书法宋代黄山谷,得其神味。”这是说吴自然的书法源于黄庭坚,并得其神髓,达到了出神入化的程度,这种评论不过份,吴自然的黄体书法的成就,不要说吉林省独此一家,就在全国书展中也是少见的。对吴自然的学黄,罗继祖教授在和吴谈话中又指出:“我认为您学黄的体势放纵成为自己的格调,然而并没有离黄,故已有余,下一步应在收敛上下功夫。”这是1987年7月的谈话。黄庭坚书法为“宋四家”之一,康有为曾评其为:“宋人书,以山谷最佳。”其特点为体
