ESA和空客防务与航天公司于2015年底签订了一份价值1.09亿欧元的合同,要求其采用由ESA和法国政府共同出资开发的技术设计并建造首个新一代Eurostar Neo通信卫星平台。泰勒斯阿莱尼亚航天公司曾在9月与ESA签订了一份类似合同,该合同价值1.1179亿欧元,用于研制Spacebus Neo卫星平台。2家公司的Neo卫星平台计划于2016年中期开展关键设计评审。目前,泰勒斯已赢得了首个Neo客户——欧洲通信卫星公司(Eutelsat)订购了一颗覆盖非洲的Ka频段高吞吐量广播卫星。
ESA and Airbus Defense and Space signed a € 109 million contract by the end of 2015 to design and build the first new generation of Eurostar Neo communications satellite platforms using the technology co-financed by ESA and the French government. Thales Alenia Aerospace signed a similar contract with ESA in September with a value of 111.79 million euros for the development of the Spacebus Neo satellite platform. The Neo satellite platform of the two companies plans to conduct a critical design review by mid-2016. Thales has now won its first Neo customer, Eutelsat, to order a Ka-band high-throughput broadcast satellite covering Africa.
