Objective: To understand the situation of Candida colonization in diabetic patients and to explore the relationship between diabetes and Candida vulvovitis (VVC). Methods: One hundred and forty-four patients with diabetes (56 with vaginal symptoms, 88 asymptomatic patients) and 150 healthy volunteers were selected for Candida vaginalis culture. Collected Candida krusei For species typing. Results: The Candida albicans detection rate (44.4%, 64/144) in diabetic group was significantly higher than that in control group (18.0%, 27/150) (P <0.05). Candida albicans accounted for 75.0% (48/64) in diabetic group, Candida albicans in control group accounted for 51.9% (14/27), and Candida albicans in diabetic group was higher than that in control group (P <0.05). The detection rate of candida in symptomatic patients with diabetes mellitus was 64.3% (36/56), that of asymptomatic patients was 31.8% (28/88), and that of candida in symptomatic patients was significantly higher than that of asymptomatic patients (P <0.05). Candida albicans accounted for 88.8% (32/36) in symptomatic group and 57.1% (16/28) in asymptomatic group, while Candida albicans in symptomatic group was significantly higher than that in asymptomatic group (P <0.05). Candida glabrata accounted for 2.8% (1/36) in symptomatic group and 28.6% (8/28) in asymptomatic group, while Candida glabrata in symptomatic group was significantly lower than that in asymptomatic group <0.05). Conclusion: Diabetes mellitus can increase the risk of Candida colonization in the vagina, of which Candida albicans is the main pathogenic bacteria, Candida glabrata in patients with asymptomatic candidiasis accounted for a higher proportion.
