In the optical processing system using commercially available cheap flat screen LCD TV (LCTV) for real-time signal processing. Describes the principle of this technique. The basic experimental setup is given, with a prefilter aperture used to remove the higher order spatial frequencies of the LCTV intrinsic grating structure and a lens used to magnify the Fourier spectrum to make spatial filtering easier. Experimental results with laser light sources and white light sources for image border highlighting and false color coding are also shown, indicating that the LCD TV can be used for basic real-time optical processing.
