将经过渗氮的钢在含V、Nb、Cr的硼砂浴中浸渍保持,依靠这些元素和钢中的C和N结合形成V、Nb、Cr的碳氮化合物层。随着处理时间延长,若氮全部被消耗,则在碳氮化合物上面形成碳化物层。渗氮对于增加层厚相防止造成紧接渗层下的母材软化层是有效的。碳氮化合物覆层的钢的耐磨性和碳化物覆层钢的耐磨性大致是相同的,只要渗氮时间不过份的长,其冲击值和淬火回火的情况大致相同。
The nitrided steel is impregnated and retained in a borax bath containing V, Nb, Cr and relies on the combination of these elements with C and N in the steel to form a carbonitride layer of V, Nb, Cr. As the processing time is extended, if all the nitrogen is consumed, a carbide layer is formed on the carbonitride. Nitriding is effective for increasing the thickness of the layer to prevent the base material softening layer immediately below the layer from being infiltrated. The wear resistance of carbonitride coated steel is about the same as the wear resistance of carbide coated steel, as long as the nitriding time is not excessive and its impact value is approximately the same as that of quench and temper.
