It is known that lead can block heme synthesis and strongly inhibit aminolevulinic acid dehydratase (ALA-D) and ferrous complex enzyme. This can lead to reduced hemoglobin synthesis, reduced hemoglobin. Therefore, ALA-D is often used as the most sensitive indicator of an individual’s exposure to this environmental chemical. The authors selected 107 male car body shop workers, full-time car drivers and oil depot workers from 17 to 55 years of age as subjects and obtained detailed information on their age, exposure history and alcohol consumption, respectively . The purpose of this study was to use the correlation between blood lead levels and total ALA-D and hematoporphyrin levels as a biochemical indicator of lead exposure.
