Over the past decade, a series of dynamometers from more than 250 pumping units have been collected to validate the API-based calculation of an optional pumping unit and to compare it to the Mills calculation method used in the past. The data taken includes various well conditions and various combinations of gearbox parameters and polished rod stroke.
