在蔬莱地膜覆盖栽培配套技术中,防除杂草是不容忽视的问题。 菜园杂草主要种类是一年生杂草,它们的种子在10～15℃、土壤含水量15～20％条件下即可萌发。地膜覆盖后,土壤表层的水、热、光、气等,能提前满足杂草种子的萌发需要。4月下旬杂草开始发生,较裸地提早15～20天,5月上中旬进入盛期。杂草往往将地膜顶起甚至顶破,揭膜拔草既费工,又降低了覆盖效果。
