一九七四年泉州湾发掘的宋代海船,船舱中遗留了四千多斤树枝状木料。初时有人误为燃料用的柴薪,但从它们分置于金船各舱的情况分析,柴薪应是放在生活舱,不可能遍置于金船,数量也不会那么多,因而上述看法很快被否定。但它们到底是啥东西?古船发掘办公室邀请了老医生、老药工、老香工进行鉴定,我荣幸地参加了这项工作。据考证这艘古船在泉州湾沉没的年代是宋末或元初。因此对船舱出土的这些实物的鉴别,要以“实践论”作理论指导,
