汤用彤在美国汉姆林大学时所写哲学、心理学论文未刊手稿,幸承汤一介先生保藏,使我们得以了解他留学所受的严格学术训练,探析那个时代前辈学者对西方哲学全面系统的研究和准确深入的理解。这些求学成果成为汤用彤著述的源泉,反映出学衡派形成的思想轨迹。留美所学新知奠定了汤用彤的治学基础和方向,通过其传介,推进了国人的文化研究,具有思想启蒙和为现代中国学术奠基的历史作用。它的整理与发掘,为西学东渐史上一些重要问题的重新审视提供了珍贵资源。

These academic achievements have become the source of Tang Yong Tong’s writings, reflecting the ideological trajectory formed by Xueheng School. The new knowledge of studying in the United States laid the foundation and direction for the study of Tang Tong. Through his biography, he promoted the cultural studies of his countrymen and has the historical function of enlightenment of ideas and laying the foundation for modern Chinese scholarship.
