I. Issues Established Our society is experiencing profound institutional and structural changes. In the process of rapid social transformation and urbanization, population migration and movement are increasingly frequent. More and more migrant workers leave their homes to go out to work. Some migrant workers have thrown their children to the elderly for custody or foster care. As a result, a peculiar group of rural left-behind children have emerged in rural areas. We refer to these children as rural “left-behind children.” The special growth environment and development dilemma for left-behind children should arouse widespread concern of the government, the broad masses of educators and the whole society.
