美国当代美学家理查德.舒斯特曼的论文《美感经验的完结》剖析了曾对于西方传统美学举足轻重的“美感经验”概念的现代命运,展示了该概念的发展由西方美学的中心脉络滑落到边缘的情况。在重申美感经验的价值时,美国美学家常举杜威对这个概念的分析,强调主体在艺术欣赏中与对象相遇后的一份圆满感觉,并透露了对价值的体会。当代英美美学家不单再度思考了美感经验的功能,还对“美与善同”以及美善同出一源的关系进行了论述。在康德所标榜的孤立主义传统中,杜威式的脉络主义确属难能可贵,并受到当代英美美学界的重新注意。新儒学所提供的关于美感经验的诠释,对英美美学界关心美感经验的完结是一份饶有意思的参考,也同时使关心当代美学发展和出路者对心性的功能与可能进行一次反思与肯定。
The paper “The End of Aesthetic Experience” by the American contemporary aestheist Richard Schusterman analyzes the modern fate of the concept of “aesthetic experience” that has played a pivotal role in Western traditional aesthetics, and shows that the development of this concept is guided by Western aesthetics Center veins slipped to the edge of the situation.
