The Neogene Red Belts widely distributed in northern China are mostly composed of the Pliocene Pontoon and the Pliocene Jingle, which are similar in lithology and difficult to distinguish under normal circumstances. Detailed study of stratum structure shows that there is a great difference in the patterns of occurrence of calcified tuberculosis between the two groups. The former is stratified and the latter is scattered. The difference of paleoclimatic conditions during stratigraphic formation is the main reason for this phenomenon. Due to the regional characteristics of the atmospheric conditions, this marker of stratigraphic division has particular geological significance and is of practical value in a large area
